Biking tour to Tokha & Budhanilkantha is an introductory ride for first timers in Nepal; warm up ride for those going in the mountains; goodbye Nepal ride for those returning back to their own country, and refreshing ride for those who wants to get away from the dust & crowd of the valley, at the same time witnessing rural nepal without going too far. This tour can be operated on ones wish as half day or full day tour, depending upon their time and situation.

Food – We will provide a packed lunch and fruits for this trip, basically a croissant plus sandwich
or burger. You can choose a veg or non-veg one as your preference. The choice of fruit will
depend on the season, but, mostly it will be bananas and apples.
Drinking Water – We will provide you with bottled mineral water which can be found all along
the trail. Make sure you dispose the bottle in a dustbin.
Gears – A T-shirt, normal hiking shoes and a biking short will be enough for this trip.

Overview

This is an introductory ride for first timers in Nepal; warm up ride for those going in the mountains; goodbye Nepal ride for those returning back to their own country, and refreshing ride for those who wants to get away from the dust & crowd of the valley, at the same time witnessing rural nepal without going too far. This tour can be operated on ones wish as half day or full day tour, depending upon their time and situation. Trail Option - Thamel to Shivapuri National Park and back. In this trip, we start early in the morning (around 8 Am) to escape the traffic in the city section. We ride 8 Km almost on a flat paved road from Thamel to Budhanilkantha. From Budhanilkantha, it’s 3 Km steep uphill till the entrance of Shivapuri National Park. We pay for our permits, take drinks and we gradually climb uphill on a dirt road to Nagi Gompa, a nun monastery. We explore the monastery, witness the Kathmandu Valley from the top and take some photos. The ride ahead is easy as we ride on a flat and downhill amidst the tranquility of the forest until we reach Sundarijal. From Sundarijal we ride back to via Thamel on via city section. Add ons

Itinerary

The trip commences with a 11 Km ride from Thamel to Tinpiple which is almost switchback and at times slightly uphill on a paved road early in the morning. We then ride off-road on the edge of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park upto Tokha where we take a Nepali-tea break, on the way observing farmlands, watching children walking to school and experiencing local newari communities and temples. From Tokha we climb uphill through the Sivapuri forest for almost half an hour. From the top, we witness panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley refreshing yourself with drinks. Gathering up, we ride downhill for 3 Km to Budanilkantha, where we visit the famous temple with the same name, also know to many as ‘Sleeping God’. Here, we take lunch, rest for a while, and ride back to Thamel, ending our short-time together.

Is there a group departure for this trip?

Yes, we organize a group departure for day tours every Thursday and Sunday.

I have not done mountain biking before, will this trip be challenging for me?

You don’t need any mountain biking experience for this trip. We have designed day tours in such a way that it is flexible for everyone from children to old people. Our guides will instruct about the basic at the beginning of the trip and they will make sure the ride is safe and enjoyable.

I am an experienced mountain biker and i want do to some challenging stuff in a day trip, is it possible?
